MAXCEL® Tail Gas Catalyst Hydrogenation catalysts for tail gas units

Maxcel® TGE-01: Conventional temperature applications

An extrudate CoMo on activated alumina catalyst for use in conventional Claus tail gas treating units. Complete SO2 conversion and high COS and CS2 conversion. Operable at low temperature conditions. Can be treated with actiCAT® TG presulphurisation or UltraCAT® TG preactivation for fast and simple startup.

EcoMax™ TG: reactivated Tail Gas catalyst

Evonik has pioneered the use of reactivated CoMo hydro-processing catalyst in SRU Tail Gas units. Clean, large-diameter CoMo catalyst from certain hydro-processing applications is treated at Evonik's catalyst processing facilities to remove contaminants and restore activity. The catalyst is then qualified for Claus tail gas treating with an application performance test in Evonik's pilot-scale tail gas testing unit, as well as a pressure drop test. EcoMax™ TG catalyst delivers very high CS2 conversion compared to traditional tail gas catalysts, with 70% less carbon footprint.

Maxcel® TGS-01: Spherical cobalt-molybdenum (CoMo) on activated alumina catalyst

Designed for use in Claus tail gas treating units that contain a hydrogenation reactor (eg SCOT tail gas units) with typical reactor inlet temperature of 260°C. Maxcel TGS-01 provides the best balance of catalyst activity and pressure drop for conventional tail gas treating units, offering low pressure drop while delivering high conversion of SO2, COS, CS2 an elemental sulphur. Also facilitates water-gas shift reaction in the hydrogenation reactor to reduce CO emissions from tail gas incinerator, producing additional hydrogen for reduction. Maxcel® TGS-01 can be treated with actiCAT® TG presulphurisation or UltraCAT® TG preactivation for simple and fast tail gas unit startup.

Maxcel® TGS-02: Spherical cobalt-molybdenum (CoMo) on activated alumina catalyst

Designed for use in Claus tail gas treating units that contain a hydrogenation/hydrolysis reactor (eg SCOT /LT-SCOT tail gas units) with typical reactor inlet temperature of 200°C but can also be used in conventional tail gas units at higher temperatures. Maxcel TGS-02 can be treated with actiCAT® TG presulphurisation or UltraCAT® TG preactivation for simple and fast tail gas unit startup.
